The Flores family is the subject of an Investigation Discovery documentary about their experience with the criminal justice system. They were interviewed by a “podcaster” who was actually an undercover investigator trying to get them to talk.
The how to do a podcast is a guide on how to create a podcast.
As the investigation into the murder of Kristin Smart continues, the defense continues to ask Detectives about other possible possibilities.

Detective Clinton Cole
Robert Sanger, Paul Flores’ defense attorney, then went over to resume his cross-examination of Det. Cole that began on Thursday, Aug. 5.
Sanger pressed Det. Cole about other possible suspects in Kristin’s disappearance.
Det. Cole was interrogated about a guy called Shahn, who allegedly confessed to setting fire to Kristin’s shoes and putting them on her porch with a threatening letter in February 1996. After that, the two are said to have “made up.”
Sanger then inquired about a person named Yanish, who Kristin had reported as a peeping Tom.
Sanger presented Defense Exhibit 625, an FBI questionnaire completed by a student named Janusz on March 11, 1999, who claimed to reside in the same dorm as Kristin. Sanger claims that Janusz and Yanish are the same individual, but Peuvrelle disputes this, claiming that there is no evidence that this is the same Yanish.
Ted is said to have remained in Kristin’s dorm room with her roommate. After then, a guy called Felipe was mentioned. Felipe told detectives he last saw Kristin the night before she vanished because she remained in his Trinity Hall dorm room, and they were “very close friends,” according to Det. Cole.
Ted was questioned in May 2002 and given a polygraph test, which revealed no “deception,” and he was subsequently ruled out as a suspect.
Sean was ruled out since he allegedly departed for San Francisco for his sister’s graduation on Thursday, May 23, 1996, and did not return until Sunday morning at 2 a.m.
Sanger then questioned Det. Cole about an allegation that Kristin had gotten into an altercation with someone at a performance in early May at the San Luis Obispo Veterans Hall. Trent was suspected of being a pimp in SLO and was subsequently convicted of murder in San Diego, according to a Crime Stoppers report.
Trent was a pimp who visited SLO pubs and cruised the streets searching for inebriated women to provide a lift home. He had a stripper called Roxy working for him, according to reports.
Trent allegedly used the SLO Models modeling business as a cover for prostitution. According to reports, there is no evidence that Kristin ever worked as an escort or model for Trent.

Sanger mentioned Scott Peterson as a possible suspect once again.
Scott and Laci Peterson attended Cal Poly at the same time as Kristin, according to Det. Cole.
Sanger cited a report from Officer Brocchini of the Modesto Police Department, who got a tip from someone who knew Peterson in 1995. According to reports, Peterson told the individual that if he murdered someone, he would “tie a sack around the neck with duct tape” and dump the corpse into the water.
Det. Cole stated that the tip was reported and that it came from a lady who thought the information was correct.
According to Sanger, Modesta Officers talked with Peterson’s brother, Mark, who told police Scott remarked, “boy, I hope they don’t look in my pond” in reference to Kristin Smart.
According to Defense Exhibit 623, a report dated July 29, 2004, a Sheriff’s dive team investigated numerous ponds on Morro Bay farms with potential connections to Peterson but found “nothing of evidentiary significance.”
Det. Cole verified that neither Laci nor Scott Peterson were at the party with Kristin on Crandall Way, according to Det. Crawford’s reports, when questioned by Peuvrelle.
Scott Peterson is not linked to Kristin, according to Det. Cole.
Sanger inquired to Det. Cole about the number of hours of eavesdropping on the Flores family in 2024. Det. Cole couldn’t specify how long the wiretap lasted, but he did claim it was for 30 days.
Sanger inquired of Det. Cole whether he recalls police enforcement providing the podcaster with “false information” about a vehicle in order to elicit a response from the Flores family. Det. Cole agreed.
Later, Sanger asked Det. Cole whether he thought Kristin Kristin was dead, and Det. Cole said definitely.
Sanger went on to claim that Det. Cole had proof of Kristin’s remains’ whereabouts. Peuvrelle’s argument that this was beyond the scope of the cross-examination was upheld by Judge Van Rooyen.
The defense objected to the upcoming witness, Angie, during Chambers this morning.
Angie was scheduled to testify in court at 1:30 p.m. that morning.
Angie plans to speak about an event at Ruben Flores’ house when she tried to go towards an avocado tree, according to Peuvrelle. Angie also intended to testify about Paul’s conduct, including one instance in which he put a knife to her neck and another time when he told her he wanted to tell her something but passed out before he could.
Sanger protested, claiming that it was a butter knife and that Angie alludes to “horseplay,” but after listening to the audio, she said that she may have more information. None of this, according to Sagner, is relevant to the case.
Sanger did not mention the avocado trees, according to Peuvrelle, since detectives discovered evidence there when executing a search warrant in March 2024.
Judge van Rooyen ultimately decided that Angie may be questioned about her visit to Arroyo Grande and the avocado plants, but that other information would be omitted since it was “character evidence.”
Angie, on the other hand, did not take the stand on Monday. At about 4:30 p.m., the court was adjourned. When Angie will testify was not stated.
The hearing will continue at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
To safeguard their identities, the names of all witnesses cited will only be referred by their first names, as per court instructions.
