U.S. Ryder Cup Captain Steve Stricker Finally Has Good News to Share About His Lineup

Stricker has a serious dilemma on his hands. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson were stellar in the first two rounds of the Ryder Cup, but the U.S. now has a major lineup question to answer – who to pair with Strickler?

In a press conference on Friday, Captain Steve Stricker said his Pre-Ryder Cup lineup is one of the strongest in the history of the event. “I’m very excited about the team,” said Stricker when asked about the selection. “I thought I was going to have to make the team, but when I saw it, I was very excited.”

Aside from preparing for the competition on the golf course, the United States Ryder Cup team is preparing for the competition on social media.

With Patrick Reed in the hospital since late last week, U.S. captain Steve Stricker will have a conundrum in a little more than a week when he completes the Ryder Cup roster with six of his own players to complement the six automatic qualifiers.

That’s on top of the anxiety he’s been dealing with all season as he tries to figure out how to deal with Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau, two talented players locked in a juvenile rivalry.

The Reed issue may remain a mystery until the very last moment, but Stricker can finally put his worries about Koepka and DeChambeau to rest.

Steve Stricker has finally received some positive news regarding his lineup.

If you put Koepka and DeChambeau in the same room, it’s unlikely that they’ll agree on what day of the week it is. They haven’t gotten along in a long time, and this season has been especially difficult. On social media, Koepka mocks DeChambeau for everything from parting ways with his longtime caddy to attempting to ban spectators from the golf course.

With the larger scheme of things, both have been immature, perhaps in the hopes of cashing in on the PGA Tour’s $40 million prize fund for social media skill and engagement. But what would you expect from grownups who make millions of dollars playing a children’s game?

Stricker is in charge of determining how to handle the duo. The Ryder Cup is the only opportunity for PGA players to participate as a team this year. The other ten players don’t want to put up with the crap that Koepka and DeChambeau have been putting up with.

Stricker, on the other hand, has some positive news. He spoke with Koepka and DeChambeau separately, and both are in favor of a ceasefire.

According to Sports Illustrated, “they told me that the team, the nation, and everything else that goes with this is their (priority).” “They claimed it wouldn’t be a problem, and I trust them.”

The Ryder Cup ceasefire between Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau has a catch.

It’s one thing to coexist at the team hotel and during meals during the Ryder Cup, which begins in a month at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin. Collaboration on the course is a different story. On Friday and Saturday, Stricker has all but ruled out the idea of partnering DeChambeau with Koepka.

Stricker told the magazine, “I’m not going to tell you there’s no possibility,” but “I don’t see that happening, no.” They don’t seem to want to play together.”

Reed would be useful in this situation. Many of the regulars on the PGA Tour dislike both Reed and DeChambeau. DeChambeau, on the other hand, is a strong hitter off the tee, while Reed is a greens wizard. A problem may be solved by pairing them for one or more of the four sessions during the first two days.

Steve Stricker’s position as Ryder Cup captain is thankless.

Because Europe’s depth of skill has become so outstanding, the United States has lost nine of the past 11 Ryder Cup contests. Once you get past Dustin Johnson, 37, Stricker will face another formidable opponent, this time with one of the most youthful US lineups in recent memory.

Collin Morikawa, a Ryder Cup rookie and points leader, is 24 years old. DeChambeau, 27, and Justin Thomas, 28, have each participated in one Ryder Cup, putting them on par with Tony Finau, 31, in terms of experience. Koepka, 31, has previously competed in two Ryder Cups.

Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay, Daniel Berger, and Jordan Spieth are all under 30 and may be captain’s selections. It’s all the more incentive for Stricker to want to add Reed and his three Ryder Cup appearances to the team.

Steve Stricker has finally had good news to share about the U.S. Ryder Cup team. The selections for the 2018 team were announced on Thursday, and we can say that the selections were a bit of a surprise. After all, the U.S. had won the Ryder Cup in 2016 and had a number of young and promising talent, including Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas, and it seemed like the U.S. would field a strong effort in France in 2018..
